50s

50 is the New 50

By  |

I just turned 50 years young! I say “young” because I feel young and excited about the next chapter in my life, my own journey through menopause and beyond. Menopause starts around the age of 50 for most women and ends when we end…literally. We are menopausal until the day we die. I always tell my patients that the menopause transition is finally the time to put yourself on your own list of Things To Do. We spend most of our 30’s and 40’s taking care of everyone else, and we do not spend enough time taking care of ourselves. Now is our time, and it is about time!

50 is the New 50, and that is just fine. My 50 year old body is definitely different now than it was at 40 or 30, and so are my goals and outlook on life. I have lived a full life so far, and I am proud of my accomplishments. However, I am not done yet! Most women will live until their mid 80’s and I, for one, plan to make the most out of the last one third of my life. I am going to write a funny book about the menopause journey. What are you going to do?
